At 8 BIJOU, we believe every stone holds a story—whether it is a diamond, a coloured gemstone, or a treasured heirloom. Our bespoke service transforms the diamonds, gemstones, and other meaningful materials you already own into a unique piece of fine jewellery, crafted with quiet care and lasting craftsmanship.

How It Works

  1. Initial Conversation

    Share the story of your diamond or gemstone and any early ideas. We'll listen first, then arrange a time to see the stone in person.

  2. Stone Assessment

    We inspect your diamond or gemstone carefully—its condition, proportions, and what it can support—before any design is confirmed. Design begins only after we have seen the stone.

  3. Design & Quotation

    With the stone understood, our designer refines sketches or CAD to honour both the diamond or gemstone and your style, then provides a clear quotation for your approval.

  4. Deposit & Crafting

    Upon your approval, a 50% non-refundable deposit begins the work. Our artisans craft the setting in 14K, 18K gold or PT950 platinum and secure your stone with care.

  5. Completion

    Your piece is ready. We arrange final payment, then collection or secure delivery.

What to Prepare

  • Your diamond(s) or gemstone(s).
  • Clear photos from several angles, and measurements if you have them.
  • Any certificates (for example GIA for diamonds, or lab reports for coloured stones).
  • Design inspirations, photos, or sketches of the piece you have in mind.
  • A sense of your preferred budget for the project.

Timeline & Deposit

The creation of your bespoke jewellery typically takes 8–10 weeks from the final design approval and receipt of your deposit. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to begin the crafting process.

We work with 14K and 18K gold (white, yellow, and rose) and PT950 platinum, ensuring a solid foundation for your diamond or gemstone.

Memorial & Meaningful Materials

Beyond diamonds and coloured gemstones, we also work with materials that carry deep personal meaning. Recent examples include a guest who brought their dog's tooth for a keepsake design, and memorial pieces made with ashes diamonds or ashes gemstones. If your stone or material holds a story, we are glad to explore what is possible—always after a careful in-person assessment.

Do you work with diamonds as well as coloured gemstones?
Yes. Natural diamonds and coloured gemstones are both welcome. Each stone is assessed in person before we confirm a design.

Can I use gold from my old jewellery?
Yes, we can assess and incorporate your existing gold into your new design, adding another layer of meaning to the piece.

What if my diamond or gemstone is fragile or has inclusions?
We handle every stone with care. Setting always carries some inherent risk, especially with inclusions or older stones; we will talk through any concerns with you during the consultation.

Do you provide design ideas if I'm unsure?
Absolutely. Our designer will guide you with suggestions that suit both your stone and your personal style.

Can you work with ashes diamonds, ashes gemstones, or other memorial materials?
Yes. We have created pieces from memorial stones such as ashes diamonds and ashes gemstones, and from other personal keepsakes when they can be set safely. Every material is assessed in person first so we can advise honestly on what will work.

What is the process for international clients?
We welcome international clients. Consultations can be remote, and we will discuss secure shipping for your location.
